Hatters were up bright and early Tuesday to indulge in pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice at Medicine Hat College as part of this week’s Stampede festivities.

“I’m glad I came out,” said Michael Loo, who described the pancakes as “delicious.”

“The weather’s good. I can’t complain. I’m retired and this is my week to enjoy.”

Local guitarist Rob Hudec provided musical entertainment for the event, playing a mix of covers and originals.

Rowdy the Rattler mascot and a few clowns were there to keep the kids entertained.

Darlene Martin said she brought her family to the breakfast to get involved in the Stampede spirit.

“It’s just nice to get out and enjoy the music and food,” she said, adding she’ll probably go to one more pancake breakfast this week, in addition to attending the parade Thursday and walking around the Stampede grounds.

Loo said he plans on going to today’s pancake breakfast at the Medicine Hat Lodge with his wife.

“We always enjoy the Stampede breakfasts — love the pancakes, love the sausages, love the crowd, love the people, love the environment out here.”
