The 2018 Medicine Hat Stampede Midway will have a new look this year.

The carnival, which occurs from July 25-28 from noon to midnight each day, will have four new games, two refurbished rides, as well as new lights and uniforms for staff.

West Coast Amusements, which puts on the carnival, are introducing Dookie the Unicorn, where participants throw darts at an emoji and if they hit it, they win the unicorn to take home.

There’s also a lifesaver game, where people can try to throw balls into its centre to win a prize.

The Circle of Science has participants throwing a round disk into a square-width circle, which the disk must cover.

Finally, the arm hang challenges people to hang from a bar with one arm for two minutes. Those who can do that win $100.

Midway staples the Tilt-a-Whirl and Jet Coaster have been refurbished, with new paint and lights.

“The carnival itself is 100 per cent LED in an effort to go green,” added Stampede spokesperson D’arci Lawrence.

“They also got new uniforms for the staff for a fresh new look.”

Robert and Wendy Hauser, who were previously in charge of West Coast Amusements in the Hat, have retired, so their four kids are taking over for them.

Participants must be at least two years old and 36″ tall to ride any ride at Midway.

A single ticket costs $1.25, but a red book of 20 costs $23 and a blue book of 40 is $45.

Each ride costs between three and seven tickets.

Ticket to Ride wristbands, which are on sale at the 13th Avenue South Co-op until Tuesday and allow purchasers to take unlimited rides for a day, cost $35.

They can also be purchased at the Stampede for $45.

Gate admission is $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.
