Redcliff RCMP seek those behind attempted break-in at town pub

Mounties in Redcliff are looking for who’s ever responsible for jimmying the door of a local pub on Tuesday morning.

Authorities say that someone attempted to break in the front entrance of the Who’s on Third pub at 222 Broadway East in Redcliff, between 3 and 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

The culprit was unsuccessful, but police are still seeking to determine who was behind the attempt.

Rural chase

Two men and a woman are in custody after they allegedly led five police departments on a chase across farmland on Tuesday morning.

Bassano RCMP state they responded to an alarm in Hussar at about 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday and quickly determined that an automated teller had been extracted from a business.

About three hours later they responded to an attempted theft at a rural property, in which the suspects had pointed a “long gun” at the victim who was pursuing the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, the RCMP intercepted the vehicle which then continued into a rural area near Bassano, and eventually got stuck in a field.

RCMP personnel from Brooks, Drumheller, Gleichen and the RCMP Emergency Response Team took part, along with the Calgary Police Service helicopter.
