By Britanny Burr on September 14, 2023.
It’s cider season, Alberta! When fall comes around, it’s time to enjoy all things apple and all things pumpkin. Obviously, cider is on the menu. Luckily for us, some incredible cideries have popped up around Alberta over the past few years, so you can enjoy delicious cider while supporting local this fall. Here are a few cideries that we’d suggest you check out.
Core Values Cider
You can find Core Values in Canmore, Alberta. If you’re looking for an amazing autumn experience, a trip to the Rocky Mountains, a little hiking, and a delicious cider to finish off the day sounds like a perfect itinerary. This craft cider producer specializes in small-batch, wild-fermented products that we know you’re going to love. There are a few different ciders for you to try, including one made from BC apples and BC currants, another made with BC macintosh apples, and even a sour cider made with Alberta sour cherries and BC apples. How good does that sound?
Uncommon Cider
You’ll find Uncommon Cider in Calgary, and it’s absolutely worth a visit. In fact, this place is Western Canada’s first urban cidery, so you can assume they know what they’re doing. They’re always experimenting with new products and approaches to the ciders, so you’ll definitely get to sip on something unique while you’re there. While the cider is the crown jewel of the experience, the vibe in the tasting room is truly immaculate, and it is absolutely picture-perfect in there. You can get products in either glass bottles or cans, and you’re going to want to try as many as possible. We highly recommend trying the Syrah Rose Cider if you get the chance!
You can find this hotspot in Edmonton, and boy, is it worth the visit. Everything is made in Alberta with Candian ingredients, and they test their products over and over until they find the perfect combinations for a delicious but not-too-sweet cider. The facility is 100% vegan and gluten-free and all of the ingredients are completely transparent. You’ll find products like their Peachy cider, Limeade, Coco, Fruit Fizz, and more. You will love this cider, whether you visit the tap room or pick some up at a local store, we know you’ll be coming back for more in the near future.
Now we’re headed to Bonnyville. This Alberta craft cidery makes its products from the ground up right here in our province. The basis of their cider comes from 100% fresh pressed Canadian apples, and they grow a wide selection of local apple trees themselves. You’ll always find amazing seasonal blends alongside their classics, and you might just want to try them all. You can try the cider at the taproom and enjoy a bite from the tapas-style menu. Some of the choices include the Cranberry Cider, Blueberry Rosé Cider, Raspberry Cider, Pear Cider, and so much more.
True North Cider (TNC)
Now to Camrose. True North Cider brings you handcrafted products from the heart of the prairies. This cidery comes from very humble roots but has grown substantially over the years to what you see today, but their commitment to quality has never changed. As you’d expect, their products are made from 100% Canadian apples, and it is a serious treat. From the original dry cider to the passionfruit hopped, there’s something for everyone. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their Blueberry Vanilla Bean cider for something extra unique.
