Santa Claus leaves the North Pole to visit Medicine Hat, and the rest of the world, in one night on Dec. 24. You can do the reverse on Dec. 15, experiencing Christmas at the North Pole thanks to the Medicine Hat Concert Band Society.
The Andante and Allegro bands will perform a selection of Christmas favourites and lesser-known songs at the annual concert. “The Polar Express (medley),” “Frosty the Snowman” and “A Canadian Christmas” are among the songs to be performed by the andante band. The allegro band will tackle “Winter Milky Way,” Blue Christmas” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” among others.
As always the evening will begin with a reading of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
All told more than 100 people will perform on the evening.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available at tixx.ca, by calling 403-502-8777 or in person at the Esplanade box office or the Medicine Hat Mall customer service desk.
The band will also play its annual winter-themed concert in the hospital foyer on Dec. 18. It’s a tradition that stretches back 10 years.
