‘Trailer Park Boys’ actor Mike Smith arraigned on sexual assault charge

HALIFAX — Mike Smith, best known for portraying Bubbles on “The Trailer Park Boys” television show, has been arraigned on a sexual assault charge.

Smith was not present in Halifax provincial court this morning, appearing through his lawyer Stan MacDonald.

The actor was charged on Oct. 2 in connection with a 2017 incident involving a woman.

Prosecutor Nicole Ford says Smith will not be given any special treatment despite his fame in Canada.

MacDonald gave a short statement to reporters, saying his client will be tried in court and not in the media.

Smith is scheduled to enter a plea in court on Dec. 3.
