Two people charged in alleged Taylor Swift scam in Toronto now charged in Halton

By Canadian Press on March 21, 2025.

Two people facing charges in Toronto in an alleged Taylor Swift concert ticket scam have now been arrested in a similar alleged scheme in Halton Region.

Halton Regional Police say they received dozens of complaints about fraudulent or undelivered Taylor Swift tickets starting on Nov. 14 of last year, the day the singer began the Toronto leg of her Eras Tour.

They allege the tickets had been purchased from someone who went by the alias “Denise Blackhawk” on Facebook.

Investigators say they received 75 complaints in total and confirmed 55 incidents of fraud connected to that person, representing roughly $140,000 in sales.

They say a 44-year-old woman has been charged with fraud, possession of property obtained by crime and money laundering, while a 56-year-old has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime and money laundering.

In January, Toronto police announced more charges against the woman and arrested a second suspect in an alleged scam they said defrauded 28 people out of nearly $70,000.
