Toronto producer Boi-1da is leading the Canadian nominees at this year’s Grammy Awards with a little help from Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar.
The music hitmaker, born Matthew Samuels, picked up four nominations, including two for album of the year.
He’s up for contributions to Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” and Lamar’s “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” in the marquee category.
Samuels also earned a nod for producer of the year, non-classical, and another for best rap song for work on the track for “Churchill Downs” by Jack Harlow.
Other big nominees this year include Toronto rapper Drake and Montreal classical composer Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who are both up for three Grammys.
Among the Canadians with single nominations are Arcade Fire for best alternative music album, DJ and producer Kaytranada for dance/electronic recording and Bryan Adams for rock performance.
The 65th Grammy Awards will hosted by Trevor Noah and broadcast Feb. 5 on CBS.
