With sincere thanks Dr. Ian James Phelps The family of the late Dr. Ian James Phelps would like to thank everyone who reached out to offer condolences and support with messages, calls, cards, food, and flowers. We would also like to thank those who made donations in memory of Ian, by donating trees and/or making donations to the Brooks and District Health Foundation or the Northern Lights Health Foundation in Fort McMurray. We especially thank the many extended family members who supported Ian throughout his life and supported us after his passing. Our gratitude also goes out to the childhood friends and family friends from Lethbridge who embraced Ian while growing up there and also for being there for us with their friendship. A special thank you to the Lake Newell Resort Community for the many condolences, kindness, and for the ongoing help and support. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to Shawnigan Lake School for the incredible outpouring of love and support given to James before and after Ian’s passing. We sincerely thank Ian’s AHS North and South Zones physician colleagues as well as the AHS EMS Senior Leadership Team and Ian’s EMS colleagues for the lovely memorandums, provincial announcements, social media posts, and tributes honouring Ian’s career after his passing. We are deeply grateful for everyone who was able to attend Ian’s funeral and for all his EMS colleagues who came to honour Ian in uniform. We were very touched by the AHS EMS Honour Guard at Ian’s funeral and want to thank EMS colleagues, Chris Abela and Lorin Calder, with EMS Clinical Operations – South Zone, along with the honour guard participants, fellow paramedics from Calgary, for this wonderful gesture. Thank you so much to those who helped us with the service, especially the pallbearers Chris A., Chris S., Kevin, Greg, Brian, and Andy, as well as RNs Tasha and Karyn. Thank you to Chris Thom and his staff at Thom’s Funeral Home and to Reverend Father Dean Hartung for the beautiful service, guidance, and support. We also truly appreciate Ian’s ER/EMS colleagues, friends and family who came to visit Ian before his passing. We are forever grateful to the staff throughout the Brooks Health Centre for the outstanding and compassionate care that Ian and our family received. We would like to express our profound gratitude to Ian’s ER, EMS, and AHS colleagues and work families from Brooks, Fort McMurray, and Medicine Hat. You all meant so much to Ian and we thank you wholeheartedly for the condolences, love, and support after Ian’s passing. Special thank you to Dr. Erich van der Linde and Dr. Johan Van der Walt, your kindness and compassion will always be remembered.
