George B. Sommerstad, beloved husband of Florence Sommerstad of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014 at the age of 91 years. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Helen Schlenker on November 2, 2014, at the age of 64 years. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Troy Walker (Megan) of Calgary and Kevin Walker (Jennifer) of Stony Plain. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Jacqueline (Justin), Jordan, Abigail, and Courtney; great-grandson, Reid; and of course, her dog, Tucker. Helen is also survived by her siblings, Christine Billey (Al) of Edmonton, Glen Walker (Suzie) of Lillooet, B.C., and Rose Zinck of Medicine Hat, as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Kenneth Walker; mother Dorothy Walker, and stepmother, Eleanor Walker. Helen grew up in various small towns in Southern Alberta, with the family eventually settling in Medicine Hat. When she was 18, she left home for Edmonton and over the next few years even lived as far as Dawson City, Yukon. She returned again to Medicine Hat at the age of 28 and spent a number of years in Richmound as well. Helen was a Land Administrator with C.N.R.L. until she took ill in 2011. She was very passionate about gardening, crafting and decorating, and was very proud of her side business, “The Studio”. A memorial service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant David Townsend. Charles “Charlie” Leonard Mogck passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014, at the age of 83 years, beloved husband of Adeline Mogck of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Roxanne Plante; his son-in-law, Darryl Plante; two grandchildren, Kenedi and Landon; one brother, Melvin (Muriel) Mogck; one sister, Vivian (Lawrence) Waldbauer; one sister-in-law, Victoria Mogck as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Erna Mogck and one brother, Garry Mogck. Charlie touched many with his kind and gentle soul and could always find the bright side of a situation often cracking little jokes that made us laugh. Charlie worked as a mechanic, and had many hobbies including wood working, music, horseshoes, and fishing. Spending time with family and friends meant the world to him and he will be truly missed. Nancy Gertrude Garrison, beloved wife of the late Benny Joe Garrison, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, November 21, 2014, at the age of 57 years. .PUDWELL
Lloyd “Luke” Patrick Pudwell passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014, at the age of 80 years, beloved husband of Mary Ellen Pudwell of Okotoks formerly of Irvine. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Kelly Pudwell, Curt (Heidi) Pudwell and Serena (Todd) Rowland; five grandchildren, Brett (Jenny), Shay, Mackenzie, Abby and Adam; two sisters, Loretta (Bill) McCulley and Betty (Billy) Hoff, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Louise Pudwell and one sister, Margery (Herb) Stojke. Lloyd was born in Schuler on March 17, 1934. He started school in Schuler before moving to Medicine Hat where the family ran the Bridge Street Service. During this time Lloyd played many sports and loved them all. After school and playing Junior hockey he returned back home and began working at the Dominion Glass Factory in Redcliff. It is here that he met Mary Ellen Martin and they were married on December 10, 1956. They bought their first farm in Bowell and then moved to the farm north of Irvine in 1969 where they remained until their retirement in 2002. They have spent the past 12 years in Okotoks. Lloyd enjoyed many sports but had a special love for hockey. He coached in Irvine for a number of years and was fortunate to coach two of his grandsons. He was a hardworking and generous man that loved the simple things in life: a cold beer, candy, black licorice, shopping and time visiting with family and friends. His most cherished moments were those spent with his grandchildren and a prouder Grandpa you could not find.
