Métis artist will feature new album to close out MHPL concert series

By medicinehatnews on April 8, 2026.

Edmonton-based Métis artist Kaeley Jade will help the Medicine Hat Public Library end its Home Routes Concert Series on a high note.

The concert, set for Apr. 12 at 7 p.m. in the library theatre, will take place only two days after the release of her new album, “The Great Unknown.”

“I’m very much looking forward to celebrating its songs with the audience in Medicine Hat, as well as some selections from my older works,” Jade said, adding that the performance will be her first ever show in this city.

Jade describes her work on the latest album on her website, kaeleyjade.com, as “a cinematic plunge into the dread, conflict and uncertainty that arises when we reach a turning point.”

Tickets are available at the library, priced at $10 each or $24 for three. Fifty per cent of ticket sales from the show will be donated to the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub, with the other half going to Jade.

Jade is a Canadian Folk Music Award winner and a Western Canadian Music Award nominee. Her previous album “Turpentine” produced two No. 1s on the Indigenous Music Countdown, and was featured on “Hockey Night in Canada,” “Warrior Up!” and “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.”

An alternative and folk artist, Jade is heavily inspired by the nature she sees in her travels, especially the landscapes of Alberta. She says she uses music as something of a form of therapy, to help navigate the twists and turns of her personal journey.

Her set combines gentle ballads and upbeat tunes, creating an ebb and flow to the experience.

“I think one of the best parts of performing is creating hills and valleys within a set, and I really aim to make my shows a journey for my audience. Variety is the spice of life, as they say,” said Jade.
