Roughly $12K in drugs seized in Coaldale traffic stop, three charged

The RCMP made a significant seizure of illicit drugs in southern Alberta on Apr. 1.

RCMP in Coaldale seized a large amount of methamphetamine at a vehicle stop in the townsite.

After initially failing to stop for police, officers were able to seize approximately $12,000 worth of illicit drugs from a trio of suspects.

Three individuals were charged with trafficking a controlled substance. Kaitlynn Cartwright, Jason Mercer and Jacob Wiebe, all residents of Taber, were brought before a justice of the peace.

Wiebe was additionally charged with flight from police and Mercer was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Cartwright and Wiebe were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on Apr. 30.

Wiebe was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court Apr. 8.
