In April the Big Marble Go Centre is collaborating with the Medicine Hat Disc Golf Club to host two workshops to teach residents how to play the growing sport.

The “Learn to Play: Disc Golf” workshops will teach participants the fundamentals of the sport, including throwing, aiming and general course play.

The workshop is aimed at new players or those who have tried disc golf and want to improve their skills.

All equipment is provided during the workshops, though participants are asked to wear comfortable footwear.

The workshops will run Apr. 10 and 24 in the Big Marble Fieldhouse from 5:30-7 p.m.

Registration is required for a workshop, which is being offered free to BMGC members and for $5 for non-pass holders.

The sport is often played at a casual pace and requires no appointments or green fees to play.

Throughout the city there are five permanent disc golf courses, including an 18-basket course in Gilwell Park and neighbouring Leinweber Park. Kiwanis Central Park has a nine-basket course and there is also a course located in Kin Coulee Park split with nine holes located around the campus of Medicine Hat College, completed in 2025.
