MH Interpretive Program, MHC team up for annual Stuff Swap event

By medicinehatnews on March 27, 2026.

In the name of reducing waste, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is partnering with Medicine Hat College to find new homes for unwanted objects.

Hatters are invited to take part in the Stuff Swap, a pop-up free store which collects objects still in good repair and helps match them with residents who may be able to find a use for them.

Those seeking to part with a few items are encouraged to bring five or fewer small objects, such as clothing, books, small housewares, games or toys which are not broken, stained, ripped, incomplete or partially consumed to be part of the swap. The cutoff for donations will be 2 p.m. on Apr. 8, the day of the sale, which runs from11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Medicine Hat College Centennial Hall.

“Please avoid bringing boxes/bags full of multiple items as this pop-up event does not have the capacity to deal with large amounts of stuff. It is also not possible to drop off items in advance of the event,” said park interpreter Genevieve Mathieu.

Anyone looking to pick up items is also welcome, regardless of if they have anything to give away, as there is always more than enough to go around. All members of the public, whether they are students of the college or not, are welcome.
