newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Brooks RCMP responded to two separate vehicle collisions last weekend where road conditions were identified as a contributing factor. The first collision occurred Mar. 13 at approximately 4:25 p.m. when Mounties received a report of a vehicle that had driven through a fence, however no location has been released. Following an investigation police discovered the vehicle left the roadway and struck the fence which caused significant damage to both the fence as well as the driver’s side of the vehicle. Mounties issued the driver a warning after officers observed the vehicle’s tires were significantly worn. The second collision occurred Mar. 14 at approximately 5:20 p.m. under the city’s north-end overpass. Upon arrival RCMP say firefighters and EMS were already on scene removing the lone occupant from a vehicle crashed in the ditch. Police say the driver of the vehicle lost control due to road conditions and entered the ditch. The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries. “Brooks RCMP remind motorists that changing weather and road conditions can quickly make driving hazardous,” reads a media release. “Drivers are encouraged to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained, have adequate tire tread and adjust their speed to match the road and weather conditions.” 10
