County of Newell officers seeking arson suspect

The County of Newell Municipal Enforcement Department is seeking information to assist in identifying the person or persons responsible for setting a fishing on fire last Friday afternoon.

Firefighters with the Gem Fire Department responded to the shack fire along the shoreline of the Crawling Valley Reservoir at approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 14.

According to crews the structure had been deliberately set on fire and abandoned.

The county is asking anyone who witnessed the event or has information relevant to the investigation to contact the enforcement department by calling 403-794-2311 or by email at enforcement@newellmail.ca.
