sports@medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews Medicine Hat College will play host to Alberta College’s top futsal teams this weekend. The 2026 ACAC Futsal championships are being held at the Snake Pit, featuring both men’s and women’s Rattlers. Sixteen teams, eight men’s and eight women’s, will arrive to the college Thursday for a practice day and league awards at the Lodge before play begins Friday. There will be eight games per day, with the first match starting at 8 a.m. and the last at 4:45 p.m. Medals will be awarded on Sunday with the women’s bronze match at 1 p.m. and the women’s gold at 2:15 p.m. The men’s bronze is slated for 3:30 p.m. and the gold at 4:45 p.m. The Rattlers men’s team is the defending ACAC champions, entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed with a 6-1-1 record. MHC’s women’s team, coming off a bronze at last year’s ACAC championships, are the No. 3 seed with a 6-1-1 record. “If you don’t know what Futsal is, I would suggest that you give it a chance and watch a Rattlers game in the Snake Pit,” Vinnie Campos, athletics events supervisor and former men’s futsal player and assistant coach, said in a release. “The sport is an electrifying version of soccer, played indoors with smaller nets and a much heavier and smaller ball. The game is fast-paced, played with five-a-side. Everything happens quickly and the game can change in the blink of an eye.” The Rattlers women’s team plays Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by the men’s team playing at 11:45 a.m. The opening games dictate the next matches; a full schedule for the weekend can be found on the ACAC website. 12
