newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The city’s parks and recreation department has teamed up with the Miywasin Friendship Centre to host three free workshops teaching traditional steps of the powwow. The first workshop ran Friday evening at the Big Marble Go Centre and participants were taught about the many styles of powwow dances and the rich cultural and heritage that has been celebrated for centuries. “Bring your energy and curiosity – let’s dance, learn and celebrate together,” reads promotional material. As of the time of publication, only three spots remain open for the Mar. 20 workshop. Twelve remain open for Mar. 27. A registration link for upcoming workshops can be found on the city’s website. 7
