Four Medicine Hat female minor hockey teams took home banners this weekend.
The Medicine Hat Wildcats captured four banners across three age groups.
The U13A Wildcats beat Red Deer in a best-of-three series for the Rocky Mountain Female Hockey League Championship.
They captured the title with a 7-0 win Saturday at the Hockey Hounds Arena. Chloe Lee stopped all 33 shots she faced in the shutout win. Frances Jones had two goals with an assist, Brynlee Dovichak had a goal and two assists and Isabelle Tschritter scored twice.
Both Harlyn Schimpf and Nova Moyer found the back of the net, and Alexis Marshall and Eryn Reid each tallied two assists.
The Wildcats won the first game of the series on Feb. 28, beating Red Deer 4-3 on the road. Tschritter scored twice in the win, both Jones and Marshall added solo markers. Lee made 12 stops in net.
The U13A Wildcats are hosting U13 A Provincials on March 19-22.
Medicine Hat’s U13B Wildcats also captured a RMFHL Championship, beating West Central 2-1 in the best-of-three series.
The Wildcats lost the first game of the series, 2-1 on Feb. 28 in Bentley. Hudson Vandervelde scored for Medicine Hat, Alayna Giesbrecht made 14 saves.
They won Game 2, winning 4-2 Saturday over West Central. Vandervelde had a goal and an assist, Peyton Barton, Lola Babcock and June Giesbrecht all scored. Eberley Leipert and Peyton Howes each had two assists, Alayna Giesbrecht had 21 saves in net.
The Wildcats captured the series and the championship with a 3-2 overtime win Sunday at the Kinplex. Barton scored with 8:56 left in overtime to secure the win. Vandervelde and Kaysynn Turclotte each scored in the game, Babock had two assists and Alayna Giesbrecht made 42 saves.
Medicine Hat will represent the RMFHL at the provincial championships, March 19-22 in Vermilion.
The U15A Wildcats won the consolation finals, beating Okotoks 2-0 in a best-of-three series. They beat Okotoks 3-2 on Saturday. Ella Dunn, Kylie Smith and Gibsyn Aadland all scored, Mckenzie Black had two assist and Julie Kuipers made 27 saves.
They won 6-3 Sunday over Okotoks, led offensively by Smith who had a pair of goals. Dunn, Kiya Britton, Aadland and Peyton Chaffer each had a goal and an assist, Jaelyn Engbert had two assists. Kuipers made 17 saves in net.
Medicine Hat’s U11 Wildcats White beat the U11 Wildcats Black for the U11 South Championship.
The Wildcats White won the best-of-three series 2-0, winning 7-0 Saturday before skating to a 6-2 win Sunday.
Goldie Meyers had two goals and an assist for Wildcats White on Saturday, Amaya Vossler had a goal and two assists, and Peyton Richard had two goals. Arya Johnson had a goal and an assist and Every O’Reilly had a solo tally. Sawyer Hodgson was in net.
Sonya Schutte was in the Wildcats Black net in the loss.
Johnson led the Wildcat White offence on Sunday, scoring five goals. Reya Toms had a goal, and Hodgson made 12 saves.
Harper Boser scored twice for the Wildcats lack, Schutte made 28 saves.
There are no provincials for the U11 age group.
