Wilkie wins Canada’s first gold medal at Milan Cortina Paralympics

PREDAZZO — Natalie Wilkie is the winner of Canada’s first gold medal at the Milan Cortina Paralympics.
She finished first in the women’s standing biathlon competition at Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium.
Wilkie, from Salmon Arm, B.C., was over 30 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, China’s Zhao Zhiqing.
The Canadian flag-bearer had a time of 33 minutes 1.8 seconds.
It’s Wilkie’s fourth career Paralympic gold medal and her ninth Paralympic medal overall.
She won silver in the women’s standing sprint on Saturday.
