SAINTE-ROSE-DE-WATFORD, QUÉBEC — A school bus carrying local children overturned Saturday morning, leaving one person critically injured and 19 others hurt in southeastern Quebec.
Police say four people sustained serious injuries, but none are immediately life-threatening, and 15 more sustained minor injuries.
Frédéric Deshaies, a spokesperson for Quebec provincial police, says the bus was travelling south on a local road in Sainte-Rose-de-Watford when it slipped to the left before tipping over, possibly due to difficult road conditions.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
The critically injured person is not the bus driver, Deshaies confirms.
Sainte-Rose-de-Watford is a small community of 737, 35 kilometres from Saint-Georges near the U.S. border.
