The Medicine Hat Public Library is putting out the call for those with a big truck to show off, hoping to make the upcoming Big Truck Day even bigger.
The day itself is not for a few months yet, with the date locked down for June 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. What’s not decided is where the event will take place.
“Since we’re trying to get some more trucks we want to make sure that they all fit in the parking lot. So where it’s happening will be announced later,” said Big Truck Day organizer Karla Gaetz, who adds the location will be revealed as soon as possible.
MHPL says it already can account for emergency vehicles, construction vehicles and a garbage truck as mighty machines that will be at Big Truck Day 2026, as many previous drivers assured they would be back, but it is seeking even more vehicles to make the day one to remember.
Those with a large vehicle and an interest in giving tours of it are asked to click the banner at mhpl.shortgrass.ca to be taken to an online form to fill out information about the big truck in question. Filling out this form does not guarantee participation, warns MHPL, but it does alert staff to interest and allow them to get in touch.
More than 700 people visited our first Big Truck Day at the Big Marble Go Centre in July 2025. Truck operators were on hand throughout the day to give tours of their vehicles, answer questions and in some cases help kids and adults into the cab of the vehicles for a first-hand look at the vehicles.
