Focus of upcoming MH Interpretive Program nature walk is river ice

By medicinehatnews on March 5, 2026.

As the weather fluctuates between sun and snow, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is inviting residents out to learn about the importance of the frozen river.

“The world of river ice hosts a marvel of wildlife interactions,” said park interpreter Erika Derman “Join us as we will walk along the frozen shore as we talk about the importance of ice in Medicine Hat’s dynamic river ecosystem.”

Participants will meet at the river access parking lot on Mar. 13 at 3 p.m, where they will join an interpreter for a nature walk. This free public program does not require registration to participate, but as it takes place outside, those attending are asked to dress for the weather.
