Mavs announce second returning catcher for 2026 roster

The Medicine Hat Mavericks will have another familiar face behind the plate this season.

The Mavs announced Monday catcher Nate King will return for his second season in the WCBL.

King debuted in the WBCL last season, playing in 29 regular season games with 25 hits, two home runs, 20 RBIs and a .287 batting average. He appeared in all three of the Mavs’ first-roundgames against the Regina Red Sox.

The Lindsay, Ont. product joins fellow returnee Jamel Chabot behind the plate. The other six announced returnees are outfielder Jeremy Freeman Jr., pitchers Luis Diaz and Diego Centella and infielders Carter Roth, Blake Dale and Evan Morrison.
