The annual Southeastern Alberta Teachers’ Convention is arriving in Medicine Hat this week.

More than 1,000 teachers are expected at Medicine Hat College on Thursday and Friday.

The convention is intended for members of the Alberta Teachers’ Association only, and the itinerary offers dozens of sessions to help teachers pursue personal and professional growth.

The largest teacher’s convention in the province is taking place at the same time in Calgary, where more than 4,300 teachers are expected to attend.

While the southeastern Alberta conference is the smallest in the series, it still offers a variety of opportunities to network and learn new habits and strategies to excel in the teaching profession.

Sessions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

Speakers at the Medicine Hat convention include author and behavioural medicine expert Lisa Belanger and city councillor Stuart Young.

Belanger’s talk will take place Thursday at 9 a.m. Young’s will follow that afternoon at 1 p.m.

A full list of sessions on offer is available at the SEATCA 2026 webpage.
