A proposed pump track for the community of Dunmore continues to evolve, with a hope now to include further amenities for those looking for recreation in the area. The Dunmore Community Association initially approached Cypress County for the project with the intent to create a non-permanent dirt structure in 2022. A letter of support was sent by the county in 2025, but the DCA says it has since realized the maintenance costs of a dirt pump track and the potential safety concerns of swift erosion would make this undesirable. New plans for the site, as of a presentation at the Feb. 17 county council meeting, tentatively include a professionally designed asphalt pump track, as well as a pickleball court. It is the DCA’s hope that constructing both amenities simultaneously will allow them to save on equipment costs. It is anticipated that, including the construction of both amenities, materials and additional considerations such as fencing and a shelter belt will bring the cost of the project to roughly $400,000. The association presented seeking permission to move ahead with the project, including seeking out further grant or sponsorship opportunities to fund the project, as well as a renewed letter of support. Council received the presentation for consideration in the future. 6
