Kingsbury wins dual moguls gold; Team Canada wraps men’s hockey round robin

By Canadian Press on February 15, 2026.

MILAN — Freestyle ski star Mikael Kingsbury has won a gold medal for Canada in the dual moguls event at the Milan Cortina Games.

It’s a fifth Olympic medal for Kingsbury, but the first in dual moguls, which made its Games debut, and Canada’s first gold medal of this Olympics.

Kingsbury defeated Japan’s Ikuma Horishima 31-4 in the final round of the event.

The 33-year-old from Deux-Montagnes, Que., settled for silver in the individual event earlier in the week after losing a tiebreaker.

Kingsbury is the most decorated freestyle skier in history with 100 career World Cup wins. His medal tally rose Sunday to two gold and three silver.

In figure skating, Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps hit the ice for the pairs short program after withdrawing from the team event after Stellato-Dudek sustained a training injury on Jan. 30.

Canada’s men’s hockey team closes out round-robin play against France after securing top spot in Group A and a bye into the quarterfinals. Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid leads the star-studded Canadian squad in scoring with six points through two wins.

Canada also carries medal hopes in the mountains, with Calgary’s Abigail Strate competing in the Olympic debut of the women’s large hill and Éliot Grondin teaming with Audrey McManiman in mixed team snowboard cross.
