Some plants which have made their home in Medicine Hat can have a negative impact on the ecosystem. The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is seeking to understand these unwelcome guests. The program, Understanding Invasive Plants, aims to delve deeper into the questions residents may have surrounding invasive species. “Why are they here? How do they impact our prairie ecosystem? Do they have an evil plan for world domination? Learn plant identification skills and best practices to prevent the spread of invasives on this guided walk through Police Point Park,” said park interpreter Genevieve Mathieu. Those interested need not register for this free public program, only show up outside of the Nature Centre on Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. As the program is a nature walk, those interested are advised to dress for the weather. For more information about this or any of our other programs, residents can call the Nature Centre at 403-529-6225 or visit our natureline.info. 7
