The fourth session of a five-part free volunteerism learning series held by the city in collaboration with Volunteer Alberta will be held in-person in February at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre.

The “Rooted in Action: Volunteerism Learning Series” continues with a three-hour workshop called “Mapping Youth Engagement Practices,” and will run Feb. 12 from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

The workshop will examine the fast-changing world as it relates to volunteerism, and provide participants tools to help unlearn outdated habits and embrace new ways of attracting, recruiting and retaining volunteers.

The interactive, in-person workshop will also provide an opportunity to apply effective youth engagement strategies to promote civic youth engagement within the community.

In a previous workshop held in January via webinar, participants explored the role of young people who choose to engage within their community and give back in a meaningful way.

Online registration for the free workshop can be found by visiting tixx.ca. Visitors can also register for the final workshop in the series on Mar. 3 titled “Learning to Unlearn Volunteerism. This will be an in-person workshop held at the Esplanade.
