MARYANN KOSOLOFSKI
MARYANN KOSOLOFSKI October 29, 1932 January 19, 2026 (age 93)
MaryAnn Kosolofski passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 93 years. Waiting to greet her were her beloved husband, Wendelin (Windy); granddaughter, Janelle; her parents, Joseph and Eugenia (Ida) Rissling; her sister, Irene; and brother and sisters-in-law too numerous to mention. She leaves to miss and love her always her daughters, Brenda (Darrell) Hazel, Barb (Mark) Schmaltz; sons, Bruce (Claire), Bob (Deb), Boyd (Susan) and Bernard (Carol); 12 grandchildren, Jolene (Brenda), Allison, Megan, Brett (Bruce), Ryan (Bob), Spencer, Sydney (Boyd), Jaxson, Karter, Silken (Bernard), Tanner and Tiana (Barb); 17 great grandchildren; three brothers, George (Pat) Rissling, Frank (Gloria) Rissling and Jerome Rissling; one brother-in-law, Greg Kosolofski, one sister-in-law, Marcella Kosolofski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
MaryAnn Rissling was born on her family’s farm north of Prelate, Saskatchewan on October 29, 1932. It was at the Prelate Catholic Church where she was baptized, received her first communion and was confirmed. She attended school in Prelate and graduated as a member of the first graduating class of Prelate school in 1951. Her dream was to be a nurse, and she attended nursing school in Saskatoon. Unfortunately, she became sick during her second year and was forced to return home to Prelate.
MaryAnn and her high school sweetheart, Windy, were married on April 26th, 1954, in Marsden, Saskatchewan by her uncle, Father John Fetsch. MaryAnn and Windy were blessed with five children in under five years (Brenda, Bruce, Bob and the twins, Boyd and Bernard). She was a busy Mom and was on her own much of the time as Windy was a CPR Agent who often worked out of town. In the early 1960s they purchased the GayWay, Prelate’s Coffee shop, poolroom and bowling alley. Just when she thought life was about to settle down, they had a sixth child, Barbie. Nothing was more important to MaryAnn than her family and as a full-time working mom, she sacrificed much to ensure they were loved and had everything they needed.
Even though MaryAnn was busy, she was always a curious person and never afraid to learn or tackle something new. After the poolroom was sold, she became a certified driver instructor, then worked as a cook at St. Angela’s Academy. When her and Windy retired to Medicine Hat in 1991, she obtained her early childhood development certificate and worked in a day care. She was always active in her community serving on the Home Care Board and Prelate Music Festival executive, playing ball, bowling and singing in the Hillbilly Band. Her faith was very important to her. She loved singing in the choir (descant was her favourite voice), serving in various capacities on the CWL (65 years), reading in Church, leading prayer services at vigils and serving as a Eucharistic Minister at various senior’s facilities in Medicine Hat. She also loved to travel and one of her highlights was her trip to Eastern Canada.
MaryAnn treasured her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and showed her love by sharing the gifts of her labour. She was quick to laugh, always optimistic, easy to forgive and up to try anything, including jumping on the trampoline at age 70 with her grandchildren. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.
If you wish to join us in celebrating her life, Vigil Rites (prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at 7:00 pm. If unable to attend, family and friends are welcome to participate via livestream by logging on to
http://www.saamis.com and joining the live webcast on MaryAnn’s memorial page at the above date and time. A virtual guest book is available on the livestream page for those participating remotely. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 31st, 2026, at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 2ND Avenue NE, Medicine Hat. Lunch will be provided after Mass. A private interment will follow at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be sent at

JAMIE RING
JAMIE RING 1970 ~ 2026
Jamie Jason Ring, of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, at the age of 55 years. He is survived by his niece, Connie Davies and her children, Destiney Bowie, Aiden Davies (Little Bubba), as well as Connie’s mom, Kathy; brother, Tom Ring; nephew, Raymond Richie as well as numerous other family members. He was predeceased by his brother, and best friend, John Ring; his parents, George and Gladys Ring; his grandparents, Emo and Martha Bierbach-Brown. Jamie was born on September 26, 1970, in Medicine Hat to George and Gladys (Bierbach) Ring. He was raised in Medicine Hat and attended Elm Street School, Alexandra, and Medicine Hat High School where he built friendships and connections that lasted his lifetime.
In Jamie’s adult years, he worked many different jobs, he spoke often of time at Reinhart’s Restaurant, the Dickie Dee ice cream bike, the bingo hall, working trade shows, the stampede, and Calgary stampede just to name a few.
Jamie was an avid wrestling fan and didn’t miss an event. In his younger days he spent time traveling with friends to take in events and he had the photos and memorabilia to prove it. Not only was he fan, but he also built friendships and connections that have lasted over 40 years.
Jamie was involved in many social clubs in his life, the Legion, Elks club, Moose Lodge, AA, to name a few. He loved an opportunity to volunteer and meet new people. If there was a community event, there is a high chance you would find him there.
Over the last few years, Jamie has been able to reconnect with his niece, Connie and her children. He loved every moment he got to spend with them. His little Bubba, he loved watching him grow and maybe spoilt them just a little bit. Connie is grateful for the time they got but is sad that little Bubba won’t be able to make those fun memories with his great uncle.
Family would like to thank the ICU staff for the amazing care in his last few days as well as Dr. Wong and the other medical professionals that Jamie’s path crossed the last few years.
They would also like to thank his workers past and present from REDI Enterprises. A special thank you to Natasha for being there for him and his family to the end.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Fresh Start Recovery, Addiction Mental Health Community, or a charity of their choice. ELMER LANG
ELMER LANG 1936 ~ 2025
With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Elmer Edwin Lang, on December 30, 2025, at the age of 89 years. Elmer was born at the family farm in Burstall, Saskatchewan. From those early days, he carried values rooted in family, hard work, and quiet resilience that shaped the many chapters of his life.
Elmer loved fishing, camping, and especially gardening, at times tending three garden plots with passion and winning the biggest pumpkin contest three years in a row. Always generous, he shared the fruits of his labour with friends and family. From the pyramids of Egypt to the Great Wall of China, and many trips and experiences in between, he loved travelling the world alongside his wife Shirley, and often with family and friends. After retiring, they spent winters in Mexico and Arizona in their motorhome. Throughout his travels, he enjoyed meeting new people and making friends along the way. His stories and memories of these journeys were shared and always enjoyed by those listening. Elmer was known for his infectious sense of humour and his love of teasing those closest to him. Always open to a visit over coffee and dessert, he shared countless moments filled with laughter, warmth, and connection, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Time spent with family, whether travelling, visiting, or simply being together, mattered most to him. Elmer is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Shirley; his children Lois (Pete) Falkenberg, and Alan (Cheryl) Lang; his sister Evelyn Blosha; his many brothers-and-sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren, Dallas (Darren) Wagner, Chad (Kimberly) Falkenberg, Joel (Sarah) Falkenberg, Matt Lang, Isabel Lang, Jamie (Justin) Steinley, Brenden Wagner, and Tiana Lang. He was a proud great-grandfather to ten and was looking forward to welcoming another great-grandchild in June. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary; his brother Alvin; his sister Florence Ellefson; his son Keith; and his daughter-in-law patty.
Elmer was a man who was respected and admired by many, from family and friends to those on work sites. He will be deeply missed. We hope to see him in the moments he would have cherished so we can be reminded of his joy, his laughter, and the love he shared with us all.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at River Ridge for the companionate care and support provided to Elmer.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating.
