asmith@medicinehatnews.com The latest recreation pilot project for the city opens an opportunity for spontaneous sledding in the south. The sled library, recently installed in Southlands’ Celebration Park, allows for residents to borrow a sled from a collection provided by the city. The box also has nearby safety tips and other general information to allow residents to best enjoy the winter recreation. Those who take advantage of the new amenity are asked to return the sleds when finished – while there may not be late fees like a traditional library, returning the equipment both allows for others to use them and ensures there will be one available when visitors return for their next sledding trip. If this pilot project is successful, the City of Medicine Hat says it will look at installing the same amenity in Kin Coulee Park in the future. 6
