Minor Hockey Roundup: U17AAA SE Tigers split weekend on the road

The Medicine Hat U17AAA South East Tigers opened a two-game weekend with a win.

They blanked the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-0 on Friday.

Jake Druar stopped all 26 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season. Dane Friedt had two goals and an assist, Illya Khazov had a goal and two assists. Rhyder Arnold had a goal and an assist, and Canaan Fleck had a solo tally.

They lost 7-1 Saturday to the Okotoks Oilers.

Fleck scored the Tigers’ lone goal, Druar made 26 saves.

The next scheduled AEHL game for the U17AAA SE Tigers (6-14-0-0-3) is Feb. 1 when they head to Okotoks for a rematch with the Oilers.

U18

The Medicine Hat U18AA Hounds lost a pair of games, falling 10-2 Saturday to the Red Deer Chiefs before losing 12-3 Sunday to the NWCAA Stamps.

Colten Pluta scored both Hounds’ goals in Saturday’s loss, Treyton Wilson (21 saves) and Hudson Corbett (25 saves) split duties in net.

In Sunday’s loss, Zander Weatherhead had a goal and an assist, Evan Marentette and Jaxon Bohrn each scored, Corbett made 45 saves.

The U18AA Hounds (8-14-0-0-3) host the Golden Suns on Friday (7 p.m.) at the Hockey Hounds arena before facing the Okotoks Oilers on the road Sunday.

U15

The U15AAA SE Tigers had three games over the week, kicking things off Tuesday.

They faced the Lethbridge Golden Hawks on Tuesday, losing 6-2. Raylan Johnson and Ben Van Der Linde each scored, Hunter Knoll made 33 saves.

They had two overtime losses over the weekend, falling 7-6 Saturday to the NWCAA Calgary Flames and 3-2 Sunday to the Airdrie Xtreme.

Van Der Linde scored twice, Jhett Stober had a goal and two assists, Declan Okell and Evan Miller each scored, and all three of Cole Bouchard, Johnson and Beckam Sprunger had two assists. Knoll made 37 saves in net.

Stober scored both Tiger goals Sunday, Hunter Munro made 45 saves.

The U15AAA SE Tigers (1-20-0-2-0) have two home games this weekend, hosting the NWCAA Flames on Saturday (1 p.m.) and the Okotoks Oilers on Sunday (1:30 p.m.), both games at the Hockey Hounds arena.

The Medicine Hat U15AA Hounds had two goals, tying the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-2 Friday before falling 5-3 Saturday to the Airdrie Lightning.

Hudson Schutte and Brody Eresman each scored in Friday’s draw, Maddox Joyal made 25 saves.

In Saturday’s loss, Emerson Kurtz, Hunter Kustra and Schutte each scored, Colson Neigum made 31 saves.

The U15AA Hounds (5-18-0-0-3) are on the road Friday before hosting the East Kootenay Avalanche on Sunday for an 11 a.m. contest at the Hockey Hounds arena.

U13

The Medicine Hat U13AA Hounds lost 4-2 Saturday to the Foothills Bisons before falling 5-1 Sunday to the Bow Valley Timberwolves.

Owen Maser and Hudson Danroth each scored in Saturday’s loss, Asher Nardari made 19 saves.

Danroth scored the lone Medicine Hat goal Sunday, Treyson Donnelly made 32 saves.

The U13AA Hounds (5-12-0-0-5) are on the road Saturday.
