Banff will host the upcoming National Summit on Artificial Intelligence and Culture in March, addressing the impact of AI on Canada’s cultural and creative industries. A collaboration between Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity and the Government of Canada, the summit will facilitate conversations on both issues and opportunities surrounding AI in the cultural sector. The event is slated for March 16 and 17. “Banff Centre is proud to host this vital gathering with the Government of Canada,” said Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity CEO and president Chris Lorway. “As an institution, based in an extraordinary natural setting, that is dedicated to creative problem solving in arts and leadership, we’re an ideal setting for the deep reflection this work requires.” Leaders from the cultural sector, government, technology sector, academia and civil society will attend to explore the interactions between AI and culture and their policy implications, and demonstrate opportunities for the cultural sector to adopt responsible Canadian AI solutions. This event is informed by the recent 30-day sprint to inform a new National AI Strategy. In 2026, Ottawa will launch a renewed strategy to maintain Canada’s AI advantage. 6
