City of Brooks to handle utility permits

Starting later this month Brooks will be handling all further new service requests for gas, plumbing and electrical permits and will begin a blackout period on Friday.

The city announced it will now handle all the above permit applications to make it easier to apply for Safety Code permits in one place.

Previously permit applications were handled through the Alberta Safety Codes Authority for Gas, Plumbing and Electrical permits department, while the city processed related building permits.

With the change, all permits will be able to be processed at city hall.

To ensure there is a smooth transition period, Brooks is placing a temporary 10-day blackout period on permit application starting this Friday, Jan. 16, until Jan. 26.

Effective Jan. 26 the new permit application service will be open.
