The Cubs’ 14-game win streak was snapped this weekend with a 3-2 loss Friday in Strathmore to the Wheatland Kings. They picked up a point a day later on the road, falling 3-2 in a shootout Saturday to the Cochrane Generals. Josiah Jackson and Mason Osinski each scored in Friday’s loss, Kayne Wright made 30 saves. On Saturday, Jackson and Ethan Burgeson each had a goal and an assist, Marlo DeRosa made 35 saves. The Cubs (21-7-2) remain in first place of the South division with 44 points, five pints up on Cochrane (19-10-1) and Strathmore (19-10-1). They trail the North Division-leading Sylvan Lake Wranglers (23-5-3) by five points for the HJHL lead. The Cubs head back on the road Saturday for a rematch against Strathmore before returning to the Kinplex on Sunday when they host Cochrane. Sunday’s game gets underway at 3 p.m. 8
