By Canadian Press on January 11, 2026.

GATINEAU — Ice dancers Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier will lead Canada’s figure skating team into February’s Milan Cortina Olympic Games.

Skate Canada announced the 12 athletes who will represent the country in Italy following the Canadian figure skating championships on Sunday.

Canada carries seven entries — three ice dance teams, two pairs and one each in men’s and women’s singles — and will compete in the team event.

Gilles and Poirier, who were silver medallists at the past two world championships, will compete in their third Olympics. They’re joined in ice dance by Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha, as well as Marie-Jade Lauriault and Romain Le Gac.

Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps, who won the 2024 world title, and Canadian champions Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud make up the pairs.

Stephen Gogolev earned the men’s singles entry, while Madeline Schizas heads to her second Olympics in the women’s event.
