The Medicine Hat Mavericks have added to their coaching staff for the upcoming summer.

The Mavs announced the hiring of former outfielder David Dell as assistant coach for the 2026 season.

“When David responded to our coaching position job post, I was very excited,” owner and general manager Greg Morrison said in a social media post.

“Any time a former player wants to return as a coach, it speaks highly of their experience in Medicine Hat. David was a heart-of-the-order hitter for us in 2022. His consistent play and bat demonstrated a player, and now a coach, who understands that the little things matter. He was a gritty player who will put the work in to help our players enjoy themselves while improving this summer.”

Dell played for the Mavs in 2022, then a junior at Columbia College. He had 48 hits, three home runs and 30 RBIs in 46 games.

“Medicine Hat played a key role in my development as a player, and I’m proud to return as a coach focused on developing our players while striving to bring another championship back to the loyal fans in Med Hat,” Dell said.

He joins the Mavs’ coaching staff with coaching experience as a graduate assistant coach at Missouri Valley.

Dell will work alongside pitching coach Andrew Bench and head coach Ryan Reed.
