The City of Medicine Hat is making it easier to find recreational activities, drop-in events and sign up for memberships in 2026 with a new app introduced by the parks and recreation department called “Active MH.”
The new app will allow users to explore several recreational activities happening throughout the city and will be updated in real time to keep users in the loop on new events or waitlist changes and program availability.
Programs and drop-in courses are listed through a menu bar. The app uses AI to refine searches. An example provided by the city says users can type “yoga classes on weekday mornings” and will find relevant results.
There is also a way for users to filter their searches by selecting the button in the top right corner of the app.
Users can also register for programs through the app as well as make payment for activities and programs, as well as featuring a digital membership card which allows users to check into activities with a scan from their phone.
The app will link up with current users’ recreation accounts through the city’s website, as well as allow new users to register for an account. To register for your recreation account if you don’t already have one, visit parks and recreation on the city’s website to create your account. Once you have your account, you can log in to the Active MH app with the same username and password.
The Active MH app can be downloaded from the App Store for iOS devices (iPhone), or from the Google Play store for Android devices by searching simply for “Active MH.”
