Ringette Roundup: U19 Mustangs sweep two-game weekend before holidays

The Medicine Hat U19 Mustangs took care of business in their final games of 2025.

The Mustangs hosted the Airdrie Sting-2 for a doubleheader over the weekend.

They won the first game 9-1. Aviana Velichko had three goals and an assist, Ryleigh Jackiw had a pair of goals and a pair of assists, Leighton Wright scored twice and had an assist, Ravyn Lehr scored twice and Kendall Smith had a pair of assists.

The Mustangs put up a nine-spot for a second straight game, winning 9-3. Wright tallied four goals, adding an assist for a five-point outing. Kensie Provist had a pair of goals and assists, Velichko had a goal and two assists, Sutton Provost scored a solo marker and Jackiw had five assists.

The U19B Mustangs are off until Jan. 2 when they head to Regina for the three-day, Jim Benning Ringette Tournament.

U16

The Medicine Hat U16B Mustangs travelled to Calgary on Sunday.

They won the first contest, beating Northwest Calgary 4-2.

Breanna Lanuk had a hat trick, adding an assist. Onyka Funk had a goal and an assist and both Madison Helgeson and Sloane Berstad added helpers. Emma Pinnell played between the pipes.

They skated to a 10-7 win in the second game of the day, beating South Calgary 2.

Madison Helgeson had three goals, Lanuk and Tia Van Maarion each had two goals and an assist. Funk, Lacey Gibney and Margot Kerr each had a goal and an assist, Berstad added a helper and Jacqueline LeBlanc was in goal.

The U16 Mustangs are off until Jan. 11 when they head to Lethbridge for a double header.

U14

The U14B Mustangs hosted Calgary Bow View 2 for a pair of back-and-forth games at the Moose Rec Centre on Saturday.

The first game was a high-scoring affair with Bow View winning 10-9.

Kassidy Etienne led the Mustangs with four goals, Jorja Sadler and Haven Ward each added a pair of markers. Myah Weber rounded out the scoring with a single. Arika McDowall had two assists, Ward, Etienne, Dannalee Sawchuk, Rielle Forsyth and Katie-Lee Sehn each added helpers.

The second game matched excitement, ending in an 8-8 tie. Etienne continued her strong play, finding the back of the net four more times. Sehn, Annabelle O’Reilly, Brinley Cross and McDowall each added a goal.

Cross and McDowall each picked up two assists, with additional helpers from Sawchuk, Ward, Sadler and O’Reilly.

Grace Stirling stood tall between the pipes for the Mustangs in both games.

The U14B Mustangs head into a short break before resuming league play in January.

U12

The U12A Mustangs travelled to Calgary for their final set of league games before the Christmas break.

In the first game they faced Calgary South-2, ultimately falling 13-4.

Zoe Aarden led the way offensively with two goals, Sloan Loehndorf and Avery Fuller added one marker each. Charlie Lowe and Fallyn Weeks chipped in with assists.

Their second game was a rematch from the previous weekend against Calgary Northwest-1. The Mustangs found the back of the net five times, with Loehndorf and Aarden scoring a pair each and Fuller adding a single. Assists came from Lowe, Fuller, Loehndorf, Kylin Kerluke and Katie Vis.

Zayda Dawson was busy in net, facing over 80 shots across the two games.

The U12A Mustangs break for the holidays before returning to action at the Leduc tournament, Jan. 9-11.

U10

The U10 Step 2 Mustangs were on the road for a pair of games.

In the first game they faced Foothills FRA, Sadie Ryks and Adelyn Morvik were in net.

Kylie Klaudt scored four goals, Morvik and Teagan Forsyth each scored twice, Addison Clegg and Brinley Chabluk each had a solo marker.

In the second game they faced Strathmore. Talia Chartrand and Forsyth were in net.

Clegg, Morvik, Chabluk and Sadie Ryks scored for the Mustangs.

No scores were reported.
