AMAC Swim Club sends swimmers to three meets

The Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club was busy over the weekend.

The local swim club sent 27 swimmers to three different meets this weekend.

Rowynn Biffart raced at the Ontario Junior International swim meet in Toronto. The 17-year-old set two Canadian open time records and four club records during the meet.

She finished second in the 100m Fly Prelim and 100m Fly Final (New Club Record), third in 200m IM Prelim (New Club Record), fourth in 100m Free Final, fifth in 100m Free Prelim, sixth in 50m Fly Final (New Club Record), seventh in 50m Fly Prelim and 200m Free Final (New Club Record), ninth in 200m Free Prelim, 11th in 50m Free Final and 200m Fly Final (New Canadian Open Time), 12th in 50m Free Prelim, 15th in 50m Breast Final (New Canadian Open Time), 16th in 200m Fly Prelim and 18th in 50m Breast Prelim.

UCSC Holiday Classic

AMAC sent 11 swimmers to the UCSC Holiday Classic in Calgary to compete in the two-day meet, achieving festival and provincial qualifying times.

Dain Burnell (12): Finished first in 50m Fly Final (New 12 y/o Festival and 13 & Under Provincial Time), second in 50m Fly Prelim, third in 200m IM Prelim (New 12y/o Festival Time) and 200m IM Final, fifth in 200m Free Final (New 12y/o Festival Time) and seventh in 200m Free Prelim.

Benji Liebenberg (8): Finished 10th in 50m Breast Final, 16th in 100m Breast Final, 24th in 50m Back Final, 30th in 100m Free Final and 33rd in 50m Free Final.

Lillian Liebenberg (11): Finished third in 100m Back Final, sixth in 100m Back Prelim, eighth in 50m Free Prelim and 50m Free Final, 11th in 50m Fly Prelim and 100m IM Prelim and 16th in 100m Breast Prelim.

Saylee Mori (11): Finished second in 100m Back Final, third in 100m Back Prelim and 200m Free Final, fourth in 200m Free Prelim, sixth in 50m Free Prelim, 50m Free Final, 100m IM Prelim, 100m IM Final and 100m Free Final, seventh in 100m Free Prelim and ninth in 100m Breast Prelim.

Ivana Motsi (11): Finished seventh in 100m Back Prelim, 100m Back Final and 200m Free Prelim, eighth in 200m Free Final, 14th in 50m Fly Prelim, 100m Free Prelim and 100m IM Prelim and 17th in 50m Free Prelim.

Sunai Motsi (8): Finished 16th in 100m Breast Final, 19th in 50m Breast Final and 100m IM Final and 39th in 100m Free Final.

Lucy Pattison (9): Finished eighth in 50m Breast Final, 10th in 100m Breast Final, 11th in 100m IM Final, 15th in 50m Fly Final and 19th in 50m Back Final.

Ryes Pattison (11): Finished third in 50m Breast Final, fourth in 100m Fly Final, seventh in 100m IM Final, 10th in 200m IM Final and 11th in 50m Fly Final.

Austin Seeley (12): Finished third in 50m Free Prelim, 50m Free Final, 100m Free Prelim and 100m IM Final (New 12y/o Festival Time), fourth in 50m Breast Prelim, 50m Breast Final, 100m Free Final and 100m IM Prelim, fifth in 100m Breast Prelim and 100m Breast Final, eighth in 50m Fly Final and 10th in 50m Fly Prelim.

Isobel Tessier (8): Finished 22nd in 50m Breast Final, 27th in 100m IM Final, 33rd in 100m Breast Final and 41st in 100m Free Final.

Marsha Van Der Merwe (10): Finished first in 50m Breast Final, 50m Fly Final, 100m Free Final, 100m Fly Final (New 10 y/o Festival Time) and 200m IM Final and second in 100m IM Final.

JP Fiset Invitational

AMAC sent 15 swimmers to Edmonton to race in the JP Fiset Invitational, one of the top races in the province.

Abigail Begin (17): Finished eighth in 50m Back Prelim and 50m Back Final, 11th in 50m Fly Prelim and 100m Back Prelim, 13th in 50m Fly Final and 100m Back Final, 23rd in 100m Fly Prelim , 24th in 200m Back Prelim, 35th in 50m Free Prelim and 58th in 100m Free Prelim.

Nayla Berg (14): Finished 33rd in 200m Breast Prelim, 34th in 50m Breast Prelim and 100m Breast Prelim, 35th in 200m Back Prelim, 42nd in 100m Back Prelim, 48th in 50m Back Prelim and 59th in 50m Fly Prelim.
