This week, the Monarch Theatre is bringing on the festive fun as the countdown to Christmas begins with showings of several holiday classics.
On Friday night, the weekend kicks off with a screening of the Holiday Season romance “Love Actually.”
On Saturday, the Monarch is featuring perhaps the most timeless Christmas classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Friday and Saturday’s shows start at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 and two snacks can be purchased for $5 at concession.
Sunday afternoon, close it all out with one for the family as the Monarch puts on a matinee of Dr. Seuss’s “The Grinch.”
Sunday’s show starts at 1 p.m. Doors open at 12:15.
Sunday’s show also marks the whopping 114-year-anniversary of the Monarch Theatre, Canada’s oldest purpose-built cinema. To celebrate its birthday, cookies from Kookie Bites will be on sale at the concession stand for $5 each, and all proceeds will be donated to the Root Cellar.
For shoppers seeking out a last-minute gift for a movie-loving friend, the Monarch is also selling Screen and Snack, good for 12 movies and 12 popcorns, for only $50 a pass. Screen and Snack passes are available at the box office or at 7 Rivers Trading Co.
