By Canadian Press on December 15, 2025.
SASKATOON — A teenage girl has pleaded guilty to attempted murder after a fellow student was splashed with a liquid and set on fire in a hallway at a Saskatoon high school.
The 16-year-old also pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm of a teacher who came to the victim’s aid at Evan Hardy Collegiate in September 2024.
A witness has said she saw liquid from a black canister poured onto the victim’s head, which was then lit on fire, with flames spreading over the girl’s body.
The accused was 14 at the time and the victim was 15.
Police have said school staff extinguished the fire but the victim was seriously injured.
Neither the accused nor the victim can be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
More coming.
