Sunset walk at Police Point will mark Winter Solstice

Dec. 21 is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, and to celebrate, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Centre is heading out on a sunset walk. “Winter solstice traditions vary worldwide with a common theme of responding to seasonal changes. We will discuss how this event has developed from a survival mechanism into the winter celebrations we know today,” said park interpreter Erika Derman. Participants will leave the Nature Centre at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 21, though they are encouraged to arrive early if they would like tea or hot chocolate, which will be available for a $2 donation.
