Coun. Cocks appointed as representative to Inter-City Forum on Social Policy

Coun. Bill Cocks has been appointed to a networking group for cities in the province with a population of more than 10,000 people.

Cocks will now represent Medicine Hat on the Inter-City Forum on Social Policy, which serves as a platform for municipal collaboration with other cities and provincial bodies.

Examples of key focus areas and information shared between municipalities include social services issues, vulnerable populations, advocacy for provincial funding, policy and social programs and looking into the best practices for researching and sharing ideas.

The purpose is to address social policy, program and service issues of concern to municipalities.

Each city topping 10,000 people in Alberta is represented by an elected official and a senior administrator, and the committee typically holds three to four meetings each year, alternating between Calgary and Edmonton.
