Man arrested in stolen vehicle found to have warrants from Calgary, Brooks

Hayden Nester, 23, is facing several charges after he was arrested in a stolen vehicle with drugs and additional stolen items Tuesday night in Brooks.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. Mounties received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked idling on Third Street E, and the driver was reportedly seen slumped over.

When officers attended the vehicle location they determined it was stolen and Nester was arrested and transported to the local detachment.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an undisclosed amount of drugs and additional items which had previously been reported stolen.

Additionally, Nester was wanted on multiple warrants from Calgary and Brooks and was bound by several court-ordered conditions which included a curfew in Cold Lake and prohibitions on drinking and possession of drugs.

Nester has been charged with three counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and driving while prohibited.

Nester was remanded into custody following a bail hearing where he will remain until his next court appearance scheduled Dec. 9.
