Suspected car prowler arrested with drone assistance

A 36-year-old man, whose name has not been released by police due to charges not yet sworn in, was arrested after Medicine Hat police responded to a report of a person prowling vehicles in the 300 block of 20th Street NE. on Monday at approximately 10:40 p.m.

The man had already fled the scene on foot upon police arrival, however with assistance of a drone officers were able to locate an individual nearby who matched the description provided by witnesses.

Police also say the suspect was exhibiting suspicious behaviour once located by police and further investigation confirmed he was involved in the reported incident.

The man has been charged with obstruction, possession of stolen property and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was transported to the MHPS holding facility and was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled Jan. 14.
