newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Staff and faculty members of Medicine Hat College will put their talents on display during an upcoming art exhibition, which opens Monday. Extracurricular: MHC Creates runs from Dec. 1 to Jan. 22 at the One on One Gallery, and will showcase art from instructors and college staff in a variety of different roles. Art & design program co-ordinator Jessica Plattner says she was inspired to host the exhibition after discovering a college staff member’s work on display at a local art show held last fall. “I was reminded of why creative practice matters so deeply to so many of us,” said Plattner. “Making something with your hands is one of the best ways to shift your perspective and turn out the stresses of the world.” Plattner says the act of creating can help instructors and college staff feel connected to themselves, their materials and to the community. The public is invited to a free reception Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. Additionally, the One on One Gallery, located in the Cultural Centre, is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 8
