The Medicine Hat College Women’s hockey team recorded a pair of wins over the weekend – the back-to-back wins in the young program’s history.

The Rattlers had a two-game home-and-home set against the SAIT Trojans, winning 4-3 on the road Friday before blanking the Trojans 2-0 on Saturday.

Zayda Summach scored twice in Friday’s win, and both Rori Dickie and Gracie Soderstrom scored for the Rattlers. Mya Girard had a trio of assists and Anna Stewart made 25 saves.

In Saturday’s win, Sarah Shields stopped all 32 shots she faced for her first shutout in the ACAC. Sage Nohr scored both of the Rattlers’ goals, Sienna Vieira had a pair of assists.

The Rattlers (3-8) are on the road for a trio of games this weekend, their final slate before the Holiday break, facing the Olds College Broncos on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Volleyball

The Rattlers volleyball teams had a pair of home matches this weekend, hosting the Keyano College Huskies and the Lakeland College Rustlers.

The men’s team lost in three sets Friday to Keyano College (22-25, 18-25, 22-25). William Reiniger had seven kills for MHC. On Saturday they fell in three sets to Lakeland College (14-25, 29-31, 18-25). Cade Harrison had six kills.

MHC’s women’s team lost in three sets Friday to the Huskies (10-25, 14-25, 23-25). Jaivyn Barabe and Fayth Spencer each had six kills in the loss. They won by forfeit on Saturday over Lakeland College due to a suspension handed out by the ACAC after a hazing investigation.

The men (2-5) and women (2-5) are on the road this weekend, finishing up their first half, facing the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves and the King’s University Eagles.
