The Unison at Veiner Centre is hoping to fill 500 Christmas stockings for aging adults this year during its annual Stockings for Seniors fundraiser, aimed at making the Holiday Season a little more joyful for local seniors.

The Veiner Centre is asking for donations that can include socks, toothbrushes and toothpaste, books, coffee, tea, hairbrushes, crossword books, puzzles, lotion, small bottles of shampoo and conditioner and gift cards.

Residents can drop off donations at the Veiner Centre until Friday, Dec. 12 during regular business hours. Staff have requested people don’t leave items outside the building.

Senior Safety Series runs today

This morning a workshop for keeping seniors safe by recognizing signs of abuse and staying informed on the most common digital threats runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the North MP Room.

Members of the Medicine Hat Women’ Shelter Society will join members of the Medicine Hat Police Service to offer valuable insights and provide participants practical resources and strategies.

The event is free for both members and non-members.

Diamond art

A new diamond art group will meet once a month at the Veiner Centre, with its next session planned for Nov. 25.

Participants will make sparkling crafts in a stress-free environment for three hours each month.

“Whether you’re just starting out or already addicted to the sparkle, everyone is welcome,” reads a social media post. “Come to craft, chat and enjoy a fun, stress-free hobby in great company.”

The diamond art group will meet for its first session 1 4 p.m. in the Craft Room on Nov. 25. For information or to register for the group call 403-529-8307.
