newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Medicine Hat public high school students have until Dec. 1 to file their applications for next semester’s dual-credit courses to earn post-secondary credits and allow students to explore possible career interests. The Medicine Hat Public School Division collaborates with Olds College, SAIT and Lethbridge Polytechnic to offer a variety of dual-credit programs for students in Grade 10-12. Typically these courses are offered online, run for approximately 12-16 weeks and provide students the opportunity to earn five Grade 12 high school credits and three college or university credits. Tuition, textbooks and most supplies are paid by the MHPSD and are not recoverable. “Therefore our expectation is that students make a 100 per cent commitment to complete the course,” reads the Dual Credit Program Guide, which can be found on the division’s website. The division has also provided information on courses which will be available as prerequisites and their transferability online. The dual application form can be filled out by visiting mhpsd.ca under the “Division News” tab. 9
